Science Notebook Based Literacy Initiative

A small group of NPS elementary teachers are developing a plan to place student notebooks at the center of science education.

We are developing a template for grades 3-5 that will make the student generated book the focus of their instruction.

Ideally this will result in an increase in Open Response scores on the grade 5 science MCAS.

This will be measured by tracking the average score and the number of students achieving scores at the lower end of scoring scale over the next five years.
